Two Options For Including A Photo With Your Ad

Unlike some other services, the Land Rover Exchange doesn't charge you to include a photograph of your vehicle at its web site. If you have access to a digital camera or scanner, you can create a digital image file which can be included as part of your free ad. If you host a photo of your vehicle on the LANDROVEREXCHANGE.COM server (using option 2 below), you must agree that this is exclusively for the benefit of the users of LANDROVEREXCHANGE.COM.

(1) Free Link To A Photo At Your Own Web Site

If you have a web site of your own, just upload the digital image file to your web site and include the address for the photo in the "HTTP Photo Address" field on the "Submit Your Land Rover Exchange Listing" page. The address of the photo image must be a valid web address for a GIF or JPEG file which begins with "http://" and ends with ".jpg" or ".gif". An example of a valid web address for such an image file is: http://www.billwood.com/snaps/lrcave.jpg. If the address is valid, your picture will be returned if you enter the address in your browser's address or location field.

If you want to find the valid web address for a photo that's already on an existing web page, here's how to do it if you're using a current version of either of the two standard Internet browsers.

FOR NETSCAPE USERS: Go to an image on your web site you want to include in an ad and click the RIGHT mouse button while the cursor is over the image. Select VIEW IMAGE from the drop down menu that opens up. That will open up just the photo. You can then cut and paste the address for the photo (which will be shown at the top of the browser in the location field) to the "HTTP Photo Address" field when you update your LAND ROVER EXCHANGE ad.

FOR INTERNET EXPLORER USERS: Go to an image on your web site you want to include in an ad and click the RIGHT mouse button while the cursor is over the image. Select PROPERTIES from the drop down menu that opens up. This will display a box showing information about the image file. One of the items displayed is called "Address (URL)". Immediately to the right of this label is the "http://" address for this image. Highlight this address and then click the right mouse button and select COPY. This will put the address in your buffer so you can paste it into the "HTTP Photo Address" field when you update your LAND ROVER EXCHANGE ad.

Please note: Some Internet Service Providers, notably ANGELFIRE.COM, GEOCITIES.COM, YAHOO.COM (through YIMG.COM), XOOM.COM, among others, do not allow links to photos hosted on their servers. If you try to link to a photo on their server, they return an image which is a commercial message for their service or a null file. As a result, links to images hosted on their servers are prohibited.

(2) Free Link To A Photo At LAND ROVER EXCHANGE Uploaded Directly From Your Computer

If you can create the digital image but don't have your own web site to host the image, you can still automatically include a free photo with your ad at the Land Rover Exchange. Just follow these instructions to automatically upload your digital image to the LAND ROVER EXCHANGE web site for inclusion with your ad. To use this free feature, (1) you must have an ad already outstanding at the Land Rover Exchange, (2) your digital photo must be in the GIF or JPG format (with an appropriate file extension, i.e., "gif" or "jpg"), (3) your digital photo's file size should not exceed 100 kilobytes and (4) your digital photo must be located on a computer drive accessible from your web browser. Assuming you meet these four criteria, just press the LOAD PHOTO button immediately below to continue.

Technical Problem Reporting

These two options were developed and successfully tested under Windows XP and Windows 2000.

If you do experience technical problems, please read and include with your report any error messages displayed on the screen. Be sure to make a second attempt at including your photo before you request assistance. If you are unable to upload a photo with your ad after two or more attempts, you may send us an UPLOAD PROBLEM REPORT by visiting our Feedback page. Describe what went wrong as clearly and in as much detail as possible. You must include the name and version number of each of the following products you are using: (1) your Internet browser, and (2) your operating system. You must also indicate the exact time the error occurred. If you don't provide this information, we can't help you.
